MySpace is No Place for a Christian We get many press releases from people who have something positive to say to a Christian audience, but are having a hard time getting the message out. The problem seems to cause them to promote themselves in the wrong venue. In particular, I am referring to MySpace. An online community, that many millions of potential readers inhabit, it seems like a great opportunity. The problem is all that really happens in the community. MySpace is home to all of the evils of this world. The company sells advertising to anyone with money, and the majority of the ads are filled with sexual overtones, many are properly called pornographic. Even if your little part of this community is G rated, the ads that pop up will not be. MySpace is also home to pedophiles and other assorted perverts and predators. Since the internet is basically anonymous, you never really know who is contacting you. We have made it policy at the Olive Branch Press to never promote a MySpace site, no matter how great the information may be. We will never encourage any of our readers to put such filth in front of their eyes, and thus, into their minds. God’s Word tells us that we are living in the world, but that we are to be set apart from it. His children are to be different from the world’s. He also tells us to put no evil in front of our eyes. By not logging on, you’re not missing anything, and you are quite possibly saving yourself a whole world of trouble. |
