Our Mission

We  endeavor to glorify and serve God, by educating, edifying and entertaining His people. We will do this by providing quality materials  that help to develop a Biblical worldview. We desire to be used by God to draw non-believers into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and believers to a closer walk with Him.

Statement of Faith

We believe in one God, eternally manifested in three persons. We believe that the Bible alone is the standard for every area of life, and that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, is infallible, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. We believe that man is saved by grace alone, and that the atoning work of Jesus Christ, and His resurrection, allow us to enter into a personal relationship with God, the Creator.

Our dear friend Rhonda Hart has gone home to be with our Heavenly Father. We will all sadly miss her and her willingness to serve and share the gospel, no matter what the cost.

We would like to encourage our readers to pray for her family and friends, especially her husband Erik.

Rhonda did not have life insurance. A fund has been set up to help offset the costs. Please call Grace Centers of Hope at (248)334-2187. Your help and prayers are ALWAYS appreciated.

President Bush Proclaims National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2007

Full text of proclamation follows:

America was founded on the principle that we are all endowed by our Creator with the right to life and that every individual has dignity and worth. National Sanctity of Human Life Day helps foster a culture of life and reinforces our commitment to building a compassionate society that respects the value of every human being.
Among the most basic duties of Government is to defend the unalienable right to life, and my Administration is committed to protecting our society’s most vulnerable members. We are vigorously promoting parental notification laws, adoption, abstinence education, crisis pregnancy programs, and the vital work of faith-based groups. Through the "Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002," the "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003," and the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004," we are helping to make our country a more hopeful place.
One of our society’s challenges today is to harness the power of science to ease human suffering without sanctioning practices that violate the dignity of human life. With the right policies, we can continue to achieve scientific progress while living up to our ethical and moral responsibilities.
National Sanctity of Human Life Day serves as a reminder that we must value human life in all forms, not just those considered healthy, wanted, or convenient. Together, we can work toward a day when the dignity and humanity of every person is respected.
National Sanctity of Human Life Day serves as a reminder that we must value human life in all forms, not just those considered healthy, wanted, or convenient. Together, we can work toward a day when the dignity and humanity of every person is respected.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Sunday, January 21, 2007, as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I call upon all Americans to recognize this day with appropriate ceremonies and to underscore our commitment to respecting and protecting the life and dignity of every human being.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of Jain the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

GEORGE W. BUSH January, the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

Notice for Anyone Who was at Woodside Hospice - Your Testimony Needed

By Vickie Nee

About a year and a half ago, we stood together outside Woodside Hospice. During our time there, we were honored to photograph many of you in order to document the true story of the people who came to defend Terri’s right to life. We have a collection of about 1,000 professional images from the last two weeks there, up through the day that Terri died.
It is our desire to compile the best of these photos, along with the stories of the people who were there, into a book to benefit both the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Scott Thomas (
www.scottsfight.com). If you are interested in being a part of this project, please contact Dave and I by email or by phone at 352-795-0937. We would like your testimony, in written form, with an emphasis on the following two areas: 1. an explanation of why you felt compelled to be at the Hospice and 2. a brief (500 words or less) description of your time there. Please also include the following information: your occupation, where you are from, your age if a child, any title (for example, Pastor of First Church of Smalltown, USA), your email address or phone number in case we need to reach you, the dates you were there, and any other pertinent information. If possible, please also attach a photograph of you (and your family, if applicable) so that we can try to match your story with one of our photos from the Hospice.

Where Was I?

by Vickie Nee

On January 23, 1973, the report came out in the newspapers that the Supreme Court had made it illegal to prosecute for killing unborn babies. Where was I? I was celebrating my 12th birthday, opening presents, feasting on cake and ice cream, oblivious to what was happening in my country and world.

HPV Vaccine Statement from the American College of Pediatricians

Christian Newswire — The American College of Pediatricians applauds the availability of HPV vaccine. We strongly oppose requiring students to obtain the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine as a requirement for public school attendance.
HPV is spread only by intercourse. Keeping children out of school because they have not been vaccinated with the HPV vaccine is a serious, precedent-setting action. It replaces parental medical decision-making with government regulation which should be reserved for the improvement of the general public health. HPV cannot innocently be "caught" in a classroom as measles or other vaccine preventable diseases can.

MySpace is No Place for a Christian

We get many press releases from people who have something positive to say to a Christian audience, but are having a hard time getting the message out. The problem seems to cause them to promote themselves in the wrong venue. In particular, I am referring to MySpace. An online community, that many millions of potential readers inhabit, it seems like a great opportunity. The problem is all that really happens in the community.

Legislator Wants to Ban Spanking

New bill is a serious violation of parental authority

(SACRAMENTO, CA)/Christian Newswire Assemblywoman Sally Lieber (D-Mountain View) has announced that this week she will introduce legislation banning spanking in California. According to Lieber, the proposed law would send parents to jail for up to a year and fine them up to $1,000 if they spank a child under the age of three. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has already expressed his support for such legislation. “As a parent, I am absolutely outraged that the government wants to dictate how I discipline my children,” stated Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute. “Instead of trying to ‘protect’ my children from my discipline, Assemblywoman Lieber should be protecting my children from sexual predators. At a time when our children face horrible danger from perverted criminals, the focus of legislation should be the bad guys—not the parents.”

A Life That Matters: The Legacy of Terri Schiavo—A Lesson for Us All
by Mary Schindler, Robert Schindler, Suzanne Schindler Vitadamo and Bobby Schindler

In 2004-5, when the Terri Schiavo case divided the country, one side of the story was buried under the avalanche of politics and power. Now, Terri Schiavo’s parents, brother, and sister speak out-for Terri and themselves. A LIFE THAT MATTERS may well change every assumption you have about Terri’s too-brief life and prolonged, agonizing death.

Update on Scott Thomas

by Vickie Nee

On December 23rd, there was a hearing concerning visitation for Scott with his son Logan. He had not seen Logan since March because he did not want to see his "wife" and she refused to let him see Logan without also seeing her. At the hearing, the judge awarded Scott twice weekly unsupervised visitation, on Monday and Thursday afternoon, starting with Christmas Day! Scott and Logan had a wonderful Christmas celebration together, and have continued to enjoy their special time as father and son. Logan is now two years old and beginning to talk. He likes to feed gum drops to Scott and say "Feed Daddy". When it came time to say goodbye the other day, Pamela asked Scott what he would like to say to Logan, and Scott said, "I love you".

Immigrants

by Robert Bickmeyer

Many contend, “It is impossible to deport all of the 12 million illegal immigrants. We may as well legalize them.” Using that logic, it is impossible to stop all rapes, so we may as well legalize rape. Both arguments are equally silly. If something is illegal you do your best to minimize it, even if you cannot wipe it out.

A Few of Olive Branch Press' Monthly Features

Editorial by Timothy Gesinski

I got a surprise phone call from one of my brothers last week. He was standing in Washington D.C., along with many others at the March for Life. His family had made the trip from Florida with a church group, and were joining with Americans from all over the country to show support for the lives of the unborn.

Outdoors by Timothy Gesinski

It has occurred to me that there is more to God’s "outdoors", than merely hunting, fishing and other forms of recreation. Therefore, I thought that this column would, from time to time, explore some of these other areas. Our new homestead provides all types of outdoor activities, many some would call chores, but I am finding them to be eye opening experiences of God’s provision.

Marriage Matters By Mark and Laura Halverson

"If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land, [says the Lord]. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to [their] prayer…" 2 Chronicles 7:14-16 NKJV

My Two Shekels by Richard Zowie

As you’ve probably guessed from the title of this column, I became a Christian 25 years ago. In October 1981 in Alvin, Texas, our pastor came to our home and led me and my father to the Lord. A week or so earlier, a minister preaching on how Jesus was the only way to God had shaken me out of my cocoon of innocence; children normally are considered "safe" until they reach the age of accountability, and I was starting to realize that I had an eternal choice to make. I thank God that I made the right choice.

Do You Know What You are Getting Yourself Into?

It all starts in Genesis, when God created the earth and everything in it. When he created Adam and Eve in His own image, He had told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden [Genesis 3:2-3]. However, satan tempted Eve, and Eve gave in and gave Adam the fruit and he also ate of the fruit. They were both rebellious to God. What did they do afterward when God had called them? They had hid, because they felt ashamed, for they knew they were naked. It seems rather common for us to attemp to hide from God after we rebel against Him, because we know we have dissapointed Him. I am in the process of reading through the book of Genesis; its quite interesting following the seed of Abraham through out the book.I was talking to my Dad about Noah and how he was drunk from wine after he had gotten off the ark[Genesis 9:21]. I didn’t understand, I thought God said getting drunk was sinful? My Dad then brought something to my attention, he told me that even a man as close to God as Noah was, fell short of God’s glory. I read on about Isaac’s sons Jacob and Esau. Jacob had deceived his father so he could obtain the blessing from him. But I just did not understand, why God would of chosen Jacob to carry on the seed of Abraham, Jacob seemed so deceiving. However, if you compare the two, Esau gave up the permanent for the immediate, when he sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of red stew. Jacob was the chosen one, because God knew he would be the faithful one, and he would yeild to God’s will for his life. Esau did not think things through, he was controlled by fleshly desires and material affairs.

Trinity Broadcasting Network to Enter Second Season of Groundbreaking Christian Health Program, ‘The Great Physician’s Rx for Health and Wellness’

(LOS ANGELES)Christian Newswire — The world leader in faith-based, family friendly television program, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will begin airing the second season of the groundbreaking Christian health program "The Great Physician’s Rx for Health and Wellness" on Mondays and Tuesdays. The second season will focus on women’s health issues and is inspired by the new book written by the show’s creator, Jordan Rubin, founder of the Biblical Health Institute. The book, entitled "The Great Physician’s Rx for Women’s Health," was co-authored by his wife, Nicki Rubin. "This program was so successful last season that TBN will broadcast it twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays," says Suzie Zahn, president of WDC Media. "The popularity of the series comes largely from Rubin’s health plan that stems from the Bible, allowing many people to experience dramatic health transformations."
Some of the advice given by Rubin, also known as the "Health Evangelist," include: eat to live, avoid deadly emotions, reduce toxins in your environment, and live a life of prayer and purpose. Rubin says of the next season: "These keys are not just for anyone who is sick or suffering from a disease, but for anyone desiring to live an abundant life of health and wellness. We’re going to show women how they can dramatically improve their health and change their lives forever in just seven weeks."
